Agent to Agent: Client Incentives
Dear Tammy: What kind of incentive do you think I should offer my current clients so they’ll refer other people to me? I just started as a travel agent not long ago and would love to have a few new clients.
Tammy: Great question. As a travel agent, you always need to be looking for ways you can get new clients.
Getting new clients is absolutely essential to your future growth as a travel agent. Especially if you plan on being a travel agent long-term. Know that looking for ways you can get new clients is something that is always going to be on your list of things to do.
Now, getting referrals from your current clients is a great idea! When you’re a great travel agent, your current clients will keep coming back to you over and over again. This is why many travel agents rely on their repeat clients and getting referrals from these repeat clients.
When your current clients are happy, they’re more likely to share their traveling experiences with others.
When it comes to offering your current clients incentives so they’ll bring in new clients, you can definitely use your imagination with this.
What is it that you think your clients will like as an incentive? Instead of being general and giving all of your clients the same incentives, consider giving to them individually. For example, you could just buy a bunch of Starbucks gift cards and give them to every client who brings you in a new prospect, but that’s not very personal.
Here are a few ideas for client incentives that you can choose from, to help get you started. Just make sure you’re being realistic and can actually offer all of the incentives that you’re offering!
You can offer them a referral commission (you can say it has to be applied to their next trip), free perks for their next trip (let them choose?) or even create a loyal customer reward program listing all of the rewards your clients get when referring others and put it on your website.
Also, make sure that all of your current clients know about all the travel-related services that you sell. Your current clients may not be completely aware of all of the travel services you offer because they don’t use them all. This makes it a good idea for you to give them some type of handout that includes all of the travel services you currently offer your clients.
