Steps to Becoming a Travel Agent
If you have always dreamed of being your own boss and learning all of the ins and outs of the travel industry, perhaps becoming a travel agent is right for you. But, what exactly are the steps to becoming a travel agent?
Step 1: Decide you want to be one. You can’t move forward on the path of becoming a travel agent until you are 100% sure you want to at least begin the journey.
Step 2: Determine whether you want to work for an agency or open your own. If you decide to open your own agency find out if your state requires any special licensing or permits to set up shop. If you decide that you want to first work for an agency, email me at Tammy@TammyLevent.com and I can refer you to several TASK certified agencies that are looking for both apprentices and full time agents.
Step 3: Get some training! The Travel Agent Success Kit is a great place to start. For less than $200 you can learn all of my secrets of how I built an award winning agency from nothing that has sold more than $70 million in traveled business!
Step 4: Create a business name, get a domain, hire a web designer, launch a facebook page, get some business cards, and get a phone that can be on 24/7 for your customers.
Step 5: The hustle begins. Once you officially open your business, it’s time to pound the pavement, hunt for sales leads, start building vendor relationships and more.
Step 6: Make millions. Okay, so it obviously won’t happen that fast, but you can start making money as soon as you’re officially in business.
Step 7: Continue training. Never stop learning because the more you learn, the more you can stay ahead of the competition.
This list of steps is the short version of what you need to do to become a travel agent. If you would like a better break down, join me for an upcoming TASK Live event and I can walk you through everything you need to know to become not just a travel agent, but a travel entrepreneur!
