Success has many facets and is what drives and motivates me to reach higher levels on the goals I set every day. And you can’t do it alone, you need the right team that shares the same vision and direction as you.
I have agents that have been with me since day one when I opened my company over 20 years ago.
While I don’t micromanage, I expect my team to push themselves to higher limits and therefore expect them to give 200 percent to the company and its clients. I always make sure agents have sufficient leads, as my objective is to keep building the brand so I can continue to create new revenue streams. I have a vision that not only helps our agency, but all travel agencies.
This business is not my success, it is our success.
I promised my agents and my family that I would make sure no matter what the outside struggles may be—economic, terrorism, travel bans, hurricanes, Zika’s and more—that there is absolutely no excuse not to be able to succeed.
I started my agency on 9/1/01, and then 10 days later 9/11 happened. Although thousands of agencies shut down, I sat on the phone with every single client that wanted to cancel and saved every booking.
My no-excuse policy brings us as a team greater success.
Through the years, I have seen many changes in our industry so I decided to do something about it. A little over four years ago I started TASK— Travel Agent Success Kit—that grew into TASK Live. I wanted to help agents grow their brand/business so I began sharing all my knowledge.
Why? Because when we work together, we can have great successes! I love to see growth in our industry, so my goal is to guide agents on their journey to greater success.

When I was approached with the chance to have a local travel segment on ABC Morning Blend—Just Go Trav—we had sponsors within two weeks and vendors for the whole year. I could have continued locally but instead made a call to my client and friend Kevin Harrington (Shark Tank), asking him if he could help me get to a national level.
We expanded to Daytime TV on NBC. He told me to educate the consumer on the product, so we do. Now when a client sees a Just Go Trav segment, they want that same experience and we can we give it to them in 5 minutes.
Yes, we can and yes we did!
I approached Mark Murphy a little over a year ago and told him that I thought we needed an Agent to Agent column. I thought giving free advice and insight to help other agents with industry success was a great idea. He agreed.
I now write one article every week and share it with the industry. Because the column has been working so well, I approached him again and asked if we could start highlighting Travel Agent Success Stories to share with other agents. He agreed, and we are now sharing two Success Stories a month, with plans of growing.
I truly believe that success is gained through sharing knowledge.
